<b>Lady Gaga</b> Rocks KIIS-FM&#39;s Jingle Ball 2011

Joining in on the annual holiday concert extravaganza, Lady Gaga turned up at KIIS FM's Jingle Ball 2011 in Los Angeles, CA on Saturday night (December 3).

Arriving at the Nokia Theatre L.A. LIVE venue in a chauffeured black Cadillac Escalade, the Mother Monster was clad in a Stéphane Rolland Fall 2011 ensemble as she shuffled inside to meet a few lucky fans on the red carpet before heading backstage to gear up for the evening performance.

During her time onstage, Gaga treated the elated crowd to renditions of her hit songs including "Marry the Night," "You and I," "White KISSmas" and "The Edge of Glory," among others.

The Los Angeles Jingle Ball featured a lineup including David Guetta, Flo Rida, Sean Paul, Gym Class Heroes, Taio Cruz, Nick Cannon, Big Time Rush and Karmin.

Meanwhile, Gaga will also be taking the stage next week during Z100's Jingle Ball in New York City - with the Madison Square Garden held event taking place on December 9th.

<b>Lady Gaga&#39;s</b> &#39;Marry the Night&#39; video: How does it compare to her <b>...</b>

lady-gaga-marry-the-night-still.jpgLady Gaga is known for creating wildly imaginative, extra-long videos to accompany her singles, and her just-released clip for "Marry the Night" is no different.

The 13-minute video, which Gaga herself directed, features a mental asylum, burning cars, giant group dances and our star writing around topless with a box of Honey Nut Cheerios. But how does that stack up against her other videos?

Well, for starters, it's definitely the longest of the "Born this Way" singles. The title song from that album gets a mere seven-minute-long clip, while "Judas" and "You and I"  (a Zap2it favorite because it features former werewolf Taylor Kinney) are both six minutes and "The Edge of Glory" is five.

But putting length aside, our personal favorite still has to be "Telephone." That may or may not have something to do with the presence of Beyonce, but we're giving the credit mostly to the brightly colored, pop-art motif and cigarette glasses. Then again, the "Metropolis" vibe of "Bad Romance" could give "Marry the Night" a run for its money on the deep meaning front.

What's your favorite Lady Gaga video? How does "Marry the Night" compare to her others?

Gagaflag

Amid the torrent of images of her alter ego in elaborate makeup and futuristic fashions, the stripped-bare face of Stefani Joanne Angelina seems startling.

The Grammy award -winning singer has teamed up with outré photographer Terry Richardson for a book of photographs, “Lady Gaga X Terry Richardson” “(Grand Central Publishing, $50), a showcase of more than 350 color and black-and-white photos taken on a nearly yearlong global odyssey.

Richardson, known for his risqué, clothing-optional style, captured all sides of the chameleon-like pop star, commencing with the 2010 Lollapalooza festival, continuing to her unforgettable egg-encased arrival at the 2011 Grammys and on through to the final show of her Monster Ball tour.

It’s a not-for-kids picture book with a sententious foreword by Gaga. The rest is pure, unadulterated visual dialogue. Fans won’t be disappointed with extreme behind-the-scenes and concert shots of the expected snarls and outlandish get-ups. Included are images of Gaga’s it's-what's-for-dinner meat  dress and her poses with Cher, the godmother of attention-grabbing, barely-there Vegas showgirl couture. But most revealing are the black-and-white images with no fuss, no props or theatrical makeup in the way. It’s when the singer takes a moment from the madness, pulls back her hair and ditches the costumes, that we see the real girl who is the mastermind behind the monster.

Songwriters Masterclass: <b>Lady Gaga</b>

Welcome to part 2 of Songwriters Masterclass, an exciting new series where I sit down with some of the most outstanding and influential songwriters of our time to discuss their craft.

Today I'm thrilled to be joined by Lady Gaga. Arguably the most talented and unique performer to emerge this century, Gaga has written a string of hits including 'Poker Face', 'Bad Romance' and 'Edge of Glory.'

Flexi: Gaga, welcome to the Songwriters Masterclass. It's an honour to meet you.

Gaga: Yes, it is. Hence the title: Lady.

Flexi: Forgive me. Lady Gaga, many people feel that 'Born This Way', which is also the name of your new album, is your defining and, perhaps, most important song. Would you agree?

Gaga: Yes. I think 'Born This Way' sums up the whole birth experience for a lot of people.

Flexi: How so?

Gaga: Well, I mean I came out head first, so I was born ... (touches her head then points forward) this way. Do you remember which way you were born?

Flexi: I'm not sure. Probably head first, like you.

Gaga: You see. It's kind of a universal thing. People can relate to me, that's why my little monster fans are so devoted.

Flexi: Lady Gaga, a lot of people have suggested that 'Born This Way' sounds very similar to Madonna's song 'Express Yourself'. Would you agree?

Gaga: Absolutely. My people are going to have to talk to her people about it.

Flexi: To organise some sort of royalty payment?

Gaga: That's right. I mean, don't get me wrong, it's very flattering that another artist would want to copy me, but hey - credit where credit's due, if you know what I'm sayin'.

Flexi: Surely you're not suggesting that Madonna copied 'Born This Way'? 'Express Yourself' was released in 1989. You would have only been three years old.

Gaga: (shrugs) I'm one of the most influential songwriters of our time. Your words.

Flexi: Thank you Lady Gaga, I think we'll leave it there.

Gaga: Why the poker face? Did I say something wrong?

I hope you enjoyed part 2 of Songwriters Masterclass. Please join me next time when I'll be gettin' down with R&B superstar, Jason Derulo.

<b>Lady Gaga</b> takes outlandish style cues from visionary designers of the 1930s

The pop star mines the creations by futuristic designers in the 1930s, who predicted many of today’s trends.

Vintage footage of designers’ visions for the year 2000 include a dress made of net, aluminium frocks and massive sculpted hairstyles – all beloved of the Telephone singer.

They also foresaw the trend for cantilever heels and even guessed at mobile telephones, saying the modern man ‘will be fitted with a telephone, radio and containers’. Fashion watchers have commented on the uncanny likeness  between the fantasy creations in the  archive footage and some of the outfits sported on top stars and catwalks.

Lady Gaga wore a Dolce & Gabbana metal dress in her Paparazzi video and she was spotted in London wearing a transparent net dress – again both predicted by designers.

Fashion designers in the 1930s Old school: Futurist hairstyles mirrored by Gaga (Picture: Getty)

The designers, filmed for a British newsreel, also foresaw the trend for conical bras (worn by Madonna) as well as the light-up outfits of Katy Perry.

They even guessed we would be wobbling around on cantilever ‘reverse’ heels, which appeared in the 2007 Marc Jacobs collection and became one of the big shoe trends.

But some ideas seem ahead of their time even now, including a belt that adjusts the temperature to suit the wearer.

And a glass wedding dress imagined by one visionary has yet to make an appearance – although, as the presenter comments, it’s best matched by a groom sporting ‘a worried look’.

Bill O&#39;Reilly Says <b>Lady Gaga</b> Is &#39;Over&#39;

FOX news pundit Bill O’Reilly has strong opinions on many issues, but it’s usually pretty easy to ignore him — that is, until he moves in on a target that hits close to home, like the Mother Monster herself. In a recent post, O’Reilly took Lady Gaga to task for reportedly “jumping the shark” — that’s code for declining in relevance — with her “middle class mainstream” projects.

The problem with O’Reilly’s piece is that it doesn’t seem to have much in the way of substance. He attacks Gaga’s Thanksgiving special and holiday display for Barney’s, as though they represent some crass sell-out into the commercial realm, even though Gaga has been the queen of product placement ever since the jump-off.

“Does she really need the Thanksgiving special? Or the Barney’s exposure? Really?” O’Reilly asks, but Gaga is a master of media saturation — those most recent projects are just the latest in a long history of her smart, savvy branding ventures. Of course Gaga doesn’t need the exposure — but if she can get it, why not?

And though O’Reilly calls Gaga “the ultimate edgy, anti-establishment pop star,” what Gaga’s actually recognized for is how she blends the commercial and the artistic. It should be noted, also, that Beyonce had a Thanksgiving special last year — and Gaga beat her in the ratings. So is her relevance really in decline? We don’t think so!

The moral of this story is that Gaga is better than Bill O’Reilly. Any questions?

Exclusive: <b>Lady Gaga</b> Feels &#39;So Blessed&#39; By Grammy Nods

LOS ANGELES — Lady Gaga marked her third performance at L.A.'s Nokia Theatre — just three days after taking on both opening and closing set duties at the "Grammy Nominations Concert Live!!" — as she headlined KIIS-FM's 2011 Jingle Ball on Saturday night.

It was at the Grammy concert earlier in the week that she picked up three nominations: Best Pop Solo Performance, Best Pop Vocal Album and Album of the Year (her third nod in that category). Notice a trend going on here?

MTV News caught up with Mother Monster exclusively backstage at Jingle Ball about what this trifecta of Grammy nods means to her.

"I was just so happy and I feel so blessed," Gaga told us. "And, you know, to be nominated for my album three years in a row for the body of work means more than anything because I'm a songwriter. And to be appreciated as a songwriter and be able to call up my buddies who helped me write this album [Born This Way] and helped me produce this record, and sort of all have our first moment together, it meant a lot to me and it still does. I'm very happy."

But the "Marry the Night" singer, who was flawlessly decked out in her best Audrey Hepburn ensemble on Saturday, had a hard time deciding which nom meant the most to her.

"Well, Album of the Year and Pop [Vocal] Album ... both mean a lot to me," LG said. "I mean, they all three do. I'm 25! Four years ago, I was dancing on the bar, so [I'm] pretty happy to be here."

And there were thousands of fans inside the Nokia Theatre who were happy to have Gaga there too. Being a holiday show and all, Gaga got in the gifting spirit early by giving the crowd a slight glimpse of what her upcoming 2012 tour might look like.

"It's going to have the feeling of it in some ways," Gaga said. "It's hard to explain, it's very different aesthetics. But the vision of the show tonight is sort of a continuation of this junkyard motorcycle gang mixed with a dark Christmas. So it's going to be a great show and I'm excited. We worked really hard on it and I can't wait to see all of the fans tonight."

One thing lacking onstage was Gaga's "Olympic-sized moon" that she joked was just too large to bring out. Little Monsters will just have to wait for her full arena tour next year to see it in all its glory.

Supporting Gaga on the bill at this year's Jingle Ball show were David Guetta, Gym Class Heroes, Flo Rida, Taio Cruz, Sean Paul, Big Time Rush and Karmin.

Are you looking forward to catching Gaga on tour in 2012? Tell us in the comments!

New <b>Gaga</b> video: Brilliant, baffling

LADY Gaga made her music video directorial debut with a 14-minute production which was met on Friday with a mix of weariness and adulation by fans and pop culture watchers.

Marry The Night - the fifth single from her Born This Way album - sees the Grammy-winning performance artiste making a trip to the hospital, dyeing her hair mint green, throwing Cheerios over her naked body and hanging upside down in a car - all in the eight minutes before the song comes in.

Gaga, 25, told E! News that the surreal video, released on Thursday, was a portrait of the day she thought she saw her dreams slipping away from her when she was dropped from her first record label.

She said it was "one of the worst days in my life", but added that parts of the video were "meant to be comical".

People magazine called the video "an enigma" and said the autobiographical clip will "certainly leave fans talking, if not scratching their heads".

"AMAZING. Not just a pop singer, she's an artist," wrote Danny on the E! online message boards.

But others were clearly beginning to tire of the outrageous pop star and wondered whether Gaga was losing her touch.

"She has gone from bold to being an exhibitionist. You can't help but wonder if she has gone from a normal person to actually believing she is the persona. Poor girl," wrote Marko on the E! online board.

But Michael Gragg, writing for Britain's The Guardian newspaper website, liked the fact that Lady Gaga was "embracing the ridiculous".

"Superstars are at their best when they're simultaneously aware and unaware of their own ridiculousness, and that's what Marry The Night delivers for Lady Gaga. Oh, and the song's pretty good too," Gragg wrote on Friday.

Despite widespread publicity for the music video, and her televised performance of the new song on a Grammy nominations concert on Wednesday, Marry The Night has so far failed to catch fire.

On Friday, the song was in 38th place on the US iTunes singles charts.

"I think she needs to do more editing of her creative ideas and songs ... If she gets too difficult to relate to she'll lose her fans by losing sight of the reasons they love her: Fantasy, escape and her ideas about relationships, love and hard work," wrote Dragnfly on the People.com comments page.
